Day 102: Reminder - Live Zoom Asana Practice Tomorrow - Stilling the Fluctuations
Plus a really simple practice to still your thought spirals
I break up my thought spirals, or vrittis, by replacing them with a mantra. This is done via Japa Meditation, via Vedic Meditation, or Via Kirtan.
Yesterday, I didn’t even realize I was in a guilt thought spiral. I was talking about something to my sister, and she said to me:
You should not feel guilty about this.
Stop feeling guilty about this right now.
It clicked for me as I went to bed and realized that this is a vritti, a thought spiral. And this can be my new mantra when I hear the spiral beginning. This can be my method of breaking up the thoughts. Just keep saying over and over: Stop feeling guilty about this right now. Until the thoughts stop.
The theme of this month’s Sutra Sangha with is the Vrittis. The Vrittis come from Yoga Sutras of Patanjali Sutras 1.5-1.11.They are: right knowledge, wrong knowledge, imagination, sleep, and memory. It’s important to remember that no thought categories themselves are good or bad.
This week in the sangha we being introduced to our thoughts and starting to develop witness conciousness around our thoughts.
Join the Sutra Sangha to get in on our intimate conversation around this.
The Sutra Sangha is meeting for a yoga class tomorrow live on Zoom, where you can join Alex to learn more about the embodiment of this practice, at 9am EST. https://www.themindfullifepractice.com/membership
